Karva Chauth or Karwa Chauth is being celebrated on 8th October On this day, married women of the Northern states of India observe fast from sunrise to moonrise to pray for the good health and longevity of their husband. In the evening, women gather under one roof, dressed in red sari and celebrate the day by singing and dancing. Especially on this day, women get henna tattoos on their hand. Before breaking their fast, they recite the Karva Chauth story to each other.

Karwa Chouth is a North Indian festival celebrated all around the world by married Hindu women. Meaning, this festival falls on the fourth day of the waning moon or the dark fortnight in the Hindu month of Kartik. And an earthen pot is a symbol of peace and prosperity. It is a romantic festival that symbolizes love, respect, and togetherness between a husband and wife. Shiv ji and Parvati ji are worshiped on this day. The Gaur Mata or Karwa mata is made with cow dung in the shape of a human figure, just about two inches tall. Ladies offer prasad or fruits to Karwa maa and then the older married lady of the house narrates Karwa maa story to everyone.
